INTERLIGA 2006 VENUES & DATES ANNOUNCED

(New York, NY) – Soccer United Marketing, in conjunction with the Federación Mexicana de Futbol (FMF), Thursday announced the official venues and dates for the 2006 edition of InterLiga™, the qualifying tournament that will determine two automatic berths for Mexican clubs to the Copa Libertadores. InterLiga 2006 will be held between January 4 and January 15, 2006 in four venues in Texas and California.

InterLiga 2006 returns for third consecutive time to The Home Depot Center (Carson, California) and Reliant Stadium (Houston, Texas), sites of the finals for InterLiga 2004 and InterLiga 2005, respectively. In its international soccer debut, Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas, north of Dallas, welcomes InterLiga 2006 after hosting MLS Cup 2005, Major League Soccer's championship game on Nov. 13. The fourth and final venue for InterLiga 2006 is newcomer La Joya Stadium in La Joya, Texas, about 25 miles west of McAllen at the southern tip of the state bordering Mexico along the Rio Grande.

The eight-team, four-city InterLiga™ tournament is scheduled to kick off in Reliant Stadium on Wednesday, January 4, before heading south to McAllen for a doubleheader date on Thursday, January 5. InterLiga invades Frisco with two back-to-back weekend doubleheaders, on January 7 and January 8 to close out the Texas schedule. InterLiga 2006 finishes off the first round in The Home Depot Center on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 10 and 11, before the finals over the weekend on Sunday, January 15. The final doubleheader will determine the qualifiers to the Copa Libertadores.

InterLiga 2006 is an eight-team qualifier, divided into two groups. The InterLiga champion will be joined in Copa Libertadores by the winner of the other game held on January 15, 2006 at The Home Depot Center.

The state-of-the-art soccer stadium is home to Major Leagues Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy and Club Deportivo Chivas USA, hosting major national and international events, including the 2003 and 2004 MLS Cup and the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup championship game, as well as the 2004 InterLiga finals and several matches featuring the Mexican National Team. On the campus of La Joya Senior High School in the La Joya Independent School District, this 12,000+ seater stadium sells out the home side every Friday night for school football. Pizza Hut Park, home to Major League Soccer's FC Dallas, is one of the country's newest -and only the third - soccer stadium facility.
