NAPA RACING BUILDS ON DECADE OF MOTORSPORTS SUCCESS

Now entering its 13th season of primary sponsorship in NASCAR, NAPA AUTO PARTS has visited victory lane in all three major NASCAR series – Truck, Nationwide and Sprint Cup – amassing 30 wins, two Daytona 500 victories, and two Truck Series championships. NAPA is looking to add NHRA final-round victories to its impressive motorsports history in 2008.

1977-1979
Served as NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race sponsor at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and Riverside International Raceway
1995
Returned to the Cup Series with sponsorship of the season-ending NAPA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway
1996
Became a primary sponsor of a NASCAR team for the first time by sponsoring the No. 16 NAPA machine driven by Ron Hornaday Jr. in the Truck Series. Hornaday won the series championship for NAPA and Dale Earnhardt Inc. Continued sponsorship of the NAPA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and added the NAPA 200 Truck Series race at Tucson Speedway.
1997 Continued sponsorship of Hornaday in the Truck Series, finishing the season fifth in the point standings with seven wins. Continued Cup Series race sponsorship at Atlanta and added Cup race sponsorship at California Speedway. Added two Truck Series race sponsorships: the NAPACard 200 at Monroe Raceway and the NAPA AutoCare 200 at Nazareth Speedway.
1998 Continued sponsorship of Hornaday in the Truck Series, finishing the season with six wins and once again winning the points championship. Continued all race sponsorships except Tucson. Added Truck and Cup Series race sponsorships at Martinsville and a Nationwide Series race sponsorship at Daytona International Speedway.
1999 Continued sponsorship of Hornaday in the Truck Series, finishing the season seventh in the point standings with two wins. Continued all previous race sponsorships and added two Truck Series events (Pikes Peak, California) and two Nationwide Series event sponsorships (Pikes Peak, Michigan) for a total of 11 NAPA-sponsored races in 1999.
2000 Advanced into the Nationwide Series with Hornaday and Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Finished the season fifth in points with two wins. Race sponsorships continued with three Cup Series events (Atlanta, California, Martinsville), three Nationwide Series events (Daytona, Pikes Peak, Michigan) and one Truck Series event (Martinsville).
2001 Advanced into the Cup Series with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. and driver Michael Waltrip. Won the Daytona 500 and finished 24th in points. Race sponsorships continued with two Cup Series events (Atlanta, California) and three Nationwide Series events (Daytona, Pikes Peak, Michigan).
2002 Continued Cup Series team sponsorship, earning one win and finishing 14th in points. Race sponsorships continued with two Cup Series races (Atlanta, California) and three Nationwide Series races (Daytona, Pikes Peak, Michigan).
2003 Continued Cup Series team sponsorship, earning two wins, including a second Daytona 500 victory. Finished the season 15th in points.
2004 Continued Cup Series team sponsorship, securing nine top-10 results, including runner-up finish in the Coca Cola 600.
2005 Continued Cup Series team sponsorship. Won the Gatorade Duel 150, captured the pole at Pocono and finished second at Phoenix. Posted three top-five and seven top-10 finishes.
2006 Entered into a new Cup Series team partnership with Waltrip-Jasper Racing (equipment and support provided by Bill Davis Racing) with Michael Waltrip as the driver.
2007

Part of Toyota’s entry into the Cup Series as sponsor of Michael Waltrip Racing’s No. 55 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry. Won the Bud Pole Award at Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 6. Posted two top-10 and seven top-25 finishes.

Entered NHRA as an associate sponsor of Don Schumacher Racing.

2008 Continued as primary sponsor of the No. 55 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry in the Cup Series owned and driven by Michael Waltrip.

Entered into the NHRA Funny Car Division as primary sponsor of Don Schumacher Racing’s NAPA Funny Car driven by Ron Capps.
